A Very Special Time

We spent our spring break in the Carolinas. Essentially we were there to bury Bill's dad and have a memorial service with his family and childhood friend. However, Apri'sl family goes skiing every year, so she thought it would be great for the whole family to fly up a few days before the burial/memorial and spend some time together in the snow. Snow clothes were bought, condos and flights booked. And the day before we were set to leave the condo company called to let us know the slopes would be closing due to no snow. What?? Haha! We weren't prepared.

Myrtle beach was booked as an alternate destination. As it turns out, it was one of father in-laws favorite spots and he took the kids there often when they were little. It was perfect.

 That beach shop behind us? Don't go, Bill bought everything in there. Sorry.

Day 2 was beach day! No one in the history of ever loves the beach as much as my child!

So after the beach it became apparent L was having an eye problem. Quick visit to minor emergency got her diagnosed with pink eye. But my little trooper still came out to the Big Crab for dinner. And we bought her a little toy crab for her trouble;)

Well, my eyes are dreary so I will finish part 2, our time with our fabulous NC family and a beautiful service for my father in law, later.

Spring Break/Spring Cleaning

Our weekend was VERY laid-back. Quite nice, actually.

Friday we got pedicures, Saturday we had breakfast at Panera Bread (YUM) and did some shopping at Lowe's for the house.

After 2 years of living with the monstrocity that is this:

We have decided to update our lighting. And no joke, that is the exact same fixture in our dining room. We have a coordinating drop fixture in our entry and the ceiling fan in the living is in the same lovely shade of '80's gold.

So, this is what we will soon have:

This basic style for the entry, but the scroll work will be like the above for the dining. I got tired of looking for the exact match on the internet;=)

And this is very similar to the fan for the living room.

We also bought new lanterns for the outside at either side of the garage, but if you've seen one lantern, you've seen them all! There wasn't a lot of variety.

But I have to admit, the thing I am most excited about are these bad boys:

I ordered a case of clear shoe boxes from The Container Store. I'm soooo excited about beautifying my shoe storage! But fear not, I do NOT have a hideous pair of CPA shoes to store like the ones pictured above;=)

The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxing. Bill golfed Saturday and Sunday after church. I got a facial on Saturday and then we had some friends over. I did not take pictures as I was red and bumpy from said facial. But it was worth it!

Well, I must begin my Spring cleaning/organizing! Have a great week!
