Recital Weekend Recap and Top 2 Tuesday

Bill and I spen this weekend with his family for my mother in-law's 29th dance recital. It was by far my favorite so far.

The theme was Broadway and we all know I love me some Broadway! And she pulled from several of my favortie shows (Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Wizard of Oz...)

To start, Pappy flew in on Friday and we met Holly for dinner at Lupe Tortilla. We definitely need to take advantage of having Holly so close by more.

Saturday morning we got up early and headed to Bill's parents' home and to get ready for the show. The girls were adorable and the costumes were fantastic!

My little posers...

Now, because it's Monday night, it's also time for Top 2 Tuesday. Head on over to Taylor's blog to read everyone's pics.

Today's topic is your top 2 Bachelorette pics. I want to begin with the disclaimer that this is the most unattractive group of bachelors I've ever seen. That being said, I picked:

1. Chris L. His story of moving home to help care for his dying mother and sticking around to help his dad stole my heart. I'm a sucker for a momma's boy. I hope to have one one day;-)

2. Hunter. Marilyn Monroe once said, "If you can make a girl laugh, you can maker her do anything." I agree. This fella with his little song would have won me over, even though he's kind of a nerd. He's a funny nerd, and if you can't laugh with someone, what's the point?

Hope everyone had a safe and blessed weekend! Much thanks to our troops and Veterans for allowing us the priviledge of our freedom!

Real or Make Believe?

So last night Gracie, her sister and I went to see the new SATC movie. It was such a fun night! I always have the best time Gracie, and we went early and visited and ate (and ate!).
Gracie and I courtesy of Sara Jane.

Yes, those are the shoes I wore. Shoes make the blog b/c its an SATC post. Period. It's just appropriate.

The movie, however, left a lot to be desired...

I'm warning you now, I'm going to give away some plot points....

So it was a lot of fun, a little over the top, and some horribly inappropriate (as always). There was a great scene with Miranda and Charlotte bonding over motherhood. So cute. But the stuff on Carrie and Big's marriage...so not.

Big comes across great. He's settled (what she's always wanted), attentive and is just happy to be with his wife.

She's whiney, impossible to please and a spoiled brat.

Then she kisses another man, tells him about it, and he buys her a freaking diamond ring.

Seriously?? Is this the message we are sending women? Lay out all your needs and self worth on a man, never be satisfied with anything he gives you, and if you happen to cheat on him he should buy you jewelry as long as you're honest about it. WTH??

Now, I know what you're thinking, should I really expect anything of moral value from Carrie and company? No. But this was way over the top. And if you want to get into it, I still think the wedding being called off in the first movie was more her than him. She isolated him and made it all about the wedding and not all about the two of them. And now I'm done debating fictional characters' relationships.

Today was the JDRF pie in the face day at work. I must share my humiliation with you all....

The group - and yes, Stacie will kill me for posting this pic of her laughing. Oh, well. I have plenty good ones of her, check the past posts;-)

Carmen and I "pied"

Yes, I had a hair net and goggles. Last year the kid that picked me pied my hair. The kid the year before pushed up and got Cool Whip in my nose. I was not to be duped this year. My 30's is going to be all about making smarter decisions, lol

Hope you all have a great long weekend!!

Top 2 Dates

This week it's Top 2 dates. This one was hard, we've had a lot of good ones!

1. The "date" he proposed. This one is perfect because it is sooo us! We dated for over 2 weeks before we went on an actual date. We would hang out, watch movies, go to softball...but never a date! So when he proposed, it was very laid-back. We had already picked the ring and got it sized and went to pick it up. We stopped for groceries on the way home so he could me dinner (homemade chicken pot pie - it's the only thing he cooks away from the grill!). It was great! After dinner, we went to the driving range and then to have a celebratory drink with friends.

2. My birthday this year. We went to Messina Hoff for lunch and a wine tasting and then to a great steakhouse for dinner (after a nap, obviously!). This one I have pictures from...and a previous post back in February. It was truly the best birthday ever.

So go back to Taylor's blog and check out the other entries!

Weekend Recap

This weekend, while fairly low-key, had a lot going on!

Friday we (Jacque, Ashley, Gracie and I) celebrated Gracie's birthday with dinner at Kobe and watching Letters to Juliet in the ghetto.

She's sooo adorable!

Happy birthday to you!

Ashley's so violent...

Seriously, that theater was in the ghetto.

Gracie and I in the ghetto.

But it offered the time we needed, so whatev.

Good time was had by all and, as always, Kobe was delicious!

Saturday Bill played golf in the morning while I cleaned house (I know, my life is awesome).

After golf I met him at the pool for some lazy river action. Felt good to be in the sun, but I'm noticing some freckles I deeply regret today. Gotta be better with the sunblock;-)
This is just funny...

Saturday night we stayed in a rented a movie. Sun wore us out, haha.

Sunday we had a baked potato social with our Sunday school class and the church worship team. So much fun! And the potatoes were awesome! No pictures of that, though:(

Sunday afternoon my parents came to visit - yea!

Bill and I don't have many free weekends this month (or next), so they sweet enough to come see us for the night we had free.

We drove them out to The Commons to show them the area we were going to land shopping in this week.

On the way there, Bill asked me for directions. Turns out he had never actually been out there. I. Did. Not. Know. That.

Turns out, Bill wasn't impressed. Too far from civilization. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't surprised.

(And a little relieved. Just sayin')

Sunday night Bill grilled steaks and veggies and we watched a terrible movie. (Staten Island. Don't even go there. It sucked as much as the actual Staten Island)

Chef Bill;)

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We  did! So glad my parents got to come!

Say a little prayer for our poor, pitiful flooring. It's getting a suntan in hopes of darkening up to be installed in our house (gotta match the existing wood). I know it sounds crazy, but the manufacture says it works!
