Midweek Rant

1. Why do people tell you to get out and vote no matter who you vote for? I'll be honest, if you don't agree with me I'd rather you stay home.

2. Headline E online put on Twitter "Charlie Sheen and his Wife Divorcing". Really? This is news? Is this even surprising???

3. I hate the new name of the blog. It must be changed. To what, I have no clue.

4. My belly is now too big for me to do lunges properly. I'm now stuck doing the modified 'lazy' version:(

Upside:

1. This cold weather. Oh, how I wish it would stay!

2. Baby girl is sooo active! And she sleeps when I lie down to sleep:) Or, at least she doesn't kick so hard it wakes me up.

3. Paint lady is coming to do the consultation this weekend!! Getting nursery and guest bath done next week (God willing).

4. Bill. Just because:)

Okay, so that is only one positive for each negative, but that's a start for a tired, stressed pregnant lady!!

What Do Fish Have To Do With Anything?

My class is reading a story out of our Literature book this week where a young boy talks to a homeless man about the cure for unhappiness. In the story, he shares a piece of cake with the man, which he has measured using the thickness of his thumb. The homeless man asks him why he’s measuring a piece that size. The boy answers that the box indicates that size as a serving. The man tells him to determine a serving size for him; the boy must look at him and cut as much as he thinks the man needs. The boy does, and the man is happy with the size of his piece of cake.

While the man is eating his cake, he tells the boy he knows the secret to happiness. It’s that people need more than they say.

How powerful is that? How often do we not fully express our needs for fear of judgment, rejection or pride? How often do we want people to look at us and know what we need without us telling them? What a great reminder that we need to go beyond the basics to nurture relationships in our lives. We need to give people more than they say they need.

Is it Friday Yet?

I like my job. I really do. However, I live for the weekends. I’m talking big, red, stick it on a tshirt hear the weekends. Lately, they seem to be extra freakingfantabulous. Until this weekend…sigh. I am spending the vast majority of my Saturday on campus. It is data collection day for the hopeful researchers in grad school, and my professor is offering generous extra credit if we participate. I know I should be grateful. This methods class is killing me slowly. But it’s SATURDAY!! But just in case you were feeling sorry for me, I also get to spend the afternoon working in the library with my group members on the Literature Review section of our very poorly written research proposal. As in a proposal I will never actually see through.

Oh, well. There is Sunday, right??

I have also decided that I am going to start tagging all of my brilliant anecdotes so that you may refer to them and relive them with me. Today’s is special. I am wanting to “upgrade” my grad school and had a fabulous idea of transferring next semester. I received my undergrad degree from a mediocre school, so I really wanted a cool one this go-round (I know, there is no such thing as a “cool” school unless you’re moving to Baton Rouge, but I digress…). Well, I looked up my intended school today to find that no only do they not have my current degree plan, but they don’t even offer degrees in education AT ALL. I would tell you the name of the university, but I’m pretty sure everyone was aware of this knowledge but me. But I’m a genius, so we will let it slide…

Hope everyone has a little extra fun for me this weekend!

My Husband is a Bigger Dork than I am

We all know I can be a huge goofball. Bill has surpassed me by far! I asked if he'd buy me a Bucee's t-shirt when he stopped at the one on 45 on his way to Dallas last week. He didn't. But to make up for being cranky while he was gone, he bought us each a t-shirt on the way back...and matching pj pants...and insisted I take pictures and post them our blog. As in, he's asked at least 5 times since yesterday if I put the pictures up yet. As much as he complains about my facebooking, blogging and twittering, he sure gets offended if I don't share his good deeds with the world! LOL. So here it is, a couple of dorks in their dorky pjs.
